Dean DuBose Smith

Honorary Chairman of the 2021 Christmas Home Tour

Dear Peachtree Garden Club Friends,

I am extremely privileged to have this opportunity to write on behalf of our friend, Dean DuBose Smith, who has been chosen by Peachtree Garden Club to serve as the Honorary Chairman of the 2021 Christmas Home Tour. Through her interest in fostering culture and her alignment with constructive causes, Dean has promoted that onward flow of life that is the essence of our world. Her ability to treat every person as an individual in their own right with their own skills comes through in all the organizations in which she is involved, most especially Peachtree. She loves everyone, and they love her right back!

This lady is an Atlantan from her head to her toes and her generosity is legendary. Her leadership and contributions to  our community have been monumental. Dean joined Peachtree in 1984 and served as its 2001-03 President. During her term, Peachtree celebrated its 80th Anniversary.  With proceeds from a celebratory auction, Dean and her board established PGC’s Community Fund which to this day supports a multitude of community endeavors.

Other club involvement includes participation in the Southeastern Flower Show winning both ribbons & trophies, raising $210,000 while chairing the 2003 SFS patron party with Marcia Robinson, co-chairing the 2004 Zone VIII meeting, and featuring her home on Peachtree’s Kitchen Tour in the 1980s, as well as a more recent Christmas Home Tour. Our multifaceted friend has also found time to serve her community in myriad other ways. Her aims are simple - To make our world a better place in which to live.

As we emerge from two disrupted years, our Community Fund is more important than ever. It continues to serve as a much needed financial resource for education, programs, and solutions. One hundred percent of our Home Tour proceeds go to our Community Fund. I ask that each of you consider emulating Dean’s remarkable leadership and generosity. Please join me in honoring the legacy of this “One in a Million” lady. Thank you in advance for all that you will make possible for those who depend upon our support.

With sincere gratitude,

Marian W. Hill
